We are pleased to announce that the Addiction Prevention Unit (APU) will be hosting the 9th Annual Coalitions Connect on Tuesday March 4, 2014 in Calgary.

 

Coalitions Connect is one of many visible commitments of Alberta Health Services (AHS) to support and create communities that increase the protective factors important for mental well-being, resilience and health and to reduce risk factors that contribute to substance abuse. This meeting provides a face-to-face opportunity to address communities across Alberta with relevant and current information about emerging issues, services and best practices as well as provide the opportunity to share experience and network.

 

As in previous years this event is by invitation. Each coalition may register 2 community members to attend. Financial support for travel, where needed, is available for 2 community members, through the APU.If your coalitions was funded this year, funding can be used to support coalition travel to Coalitions Connect. 

 

In addition, the local AHS representative working with the coalition is encouraged to attend. However, unlike in the past, this year the APU is unable to provide financial support for zone staff to attend. AHS staff travel costs need to be covered by their respective Zones.To alleviate expenses and encourage AHS zone participation, the APU has changed the event from a two-day to a one-day event. We hope this makes travel and expenses for the zones manageable. If you want to connect about this, or have any concerns, please feel free to contact us.
